Roger Scott, business manager of Grain State Soya Inc./Soy Best, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20 at his home in Omaha, Nebraska, after a long struggle with cancer. With him during his final moments was his wife, Nancy. Roger was born March 25, 1942 in Danbury, Iowa, to J. Edwin “Buzz” and Gladys Scott.

He spent many years in agricultural sales, where he met people who became long and loyal friends. Roger was a loyal and longtime employee and was instrumental in introducing and selling Soy Best in the entire Midwest, the company says. His positive attitude and professionalism will be missed by customers, staff and those who worked with and knew him best.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy; two children, daughter Kelli Marquardt (fiancé Ryan Hammitt), and son Kerry (Ellen); five grandchildren, Jason Chaffin, Jessica Marquardt, Shelby (Jackson) Straight, Hayden Scott and Marshall Scott; two step-grandchildren, Amy (Kevin) Rooney and Ryan (Amy) Hollins; step great-granddaughter Delilah; and siblings Donna (Keith) Zediker and Darrell Scott.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St., Omaha, Nebraska. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 15050 West Maple St., Omaha, Nebraska. PD
