SDB bulls offer complete package

The December 2012 proof day was exciting for Sierra Desert Breeders. SDB can offer dairymen a very well-balanced package of bulls – proven and genomic.

Proven bulls like 506H116 BIG DADDY, 506H151 HEIRLOOM, 506H155 SHYSTER and many other bulls are adding daughters and are proving to show the reliability in our program with little changes. They are great choices for the commercial dairyman with great production, solid type and excellent conception.

506H223 SUNTAN, a Bolton out of an Ex93 daughter of Louie, is one of our highlight proven bulls with a TPI of 1990, 1666M, 3.52 Type, 3.69 FLC, reliability at 88 percent with 65 daughters in his proof.

One of the new bulls we released this December is 506H224 BROEKS. He is an early Pronto son with superb production and solid type. We were going to release him this month no matter his numbers after we looked at 30-plus daughters in many herds – he makes happy customers.

We are happy to now have four bulls in the top 99 percentile of NM$ index competing with all the major studs around the world. 506H250 CASTAWAY, 506H251 GLASS, 506H702 SHAMROCK and 506H247 FROGGY are all very high $NM and TPI from top cow families.

Our colored breed lineup gets stronger each proof run. Jersey bulls like 506J171 BELLRINGER are hard to beat with almost 4,000 daughters in his proof. We now have a full-blooded Normande bull, 506NO600 MILTON, in collection in the U.S. with first conception results coming in with incredible numbers. No more importing semen from France.

We are committed to conception, keeping double the sperm cells of the major studs in the ½ cc straw. We have been implementing a “2020” reproductive plan for a few dairies that have been working out really well. PD
