Artificial insemination (A.I.) has been commonly used in the U.S. since the '30s and '40s. Progressive Cattle asked readers if they use A.I. for their herds. While results may differ across the entire U.S. cow-calf industry, the majority of respondents said they use A.I. for at least part of their herd.
The largest group of respondents (56.4%) voted that they A.I. their entire herd. Another segment (12.9%) responded that they only A.I. their heifers. The final group (30.7%) said they do not use A.I. on their herd.
