June 16, 2026
Abigail George

The June World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report (WASDE) showed the 2026-27 U.S. corn outlook is virtually unchanged relative to last month. Fractionally higher beginning and ending stocks for 2026-27 reflect mostly offsetting trade and domestic use changes for 2025-26 with adjustments to imports, corn used for ethanol and exports based on data to date.

Challenges and opportunities for the next generation of beef producers

Despite unprecedented opportunity for profitability, the industry also faces new challenges. Laying a foundation for the next generation to lead a rewarding life on the ranch should be a top priority today.
June 16, 2026
Bryan Sanderson

For the cow-calf producer, the last couple of years have been maybe the most financially rewarding in the history of the beef business in the U.S. Many people talk about the strong financial performance and how that could lead to beef herd expansion in the next couple years, and the “10-year cattle cycle” would agree, but for how long?

Reading manure: An indicator of nutrition and rumen health

It’s not the sexiest aspect of cowboy life, but knowing how to analyze manure can make all the difference in your herd nutrition plan.

Matching the cow to the grass

Regardless of what your herd needs, forage quality can vary significantly throughout the year. Follow these tips to make sure your cows are getting what they need, when they need it.
June 15, 2026
Taylor J. Garcia

From lush spring growth to dormant winter range, the nutrient value of what a cow grazes can swing dramatically. Yet, the cow’s requirements don’t swing nearly as wildly. That mismatch is where performance is either captured … or lost.

Prepare your operation for the New World screwworm

June 12, 2026
Kalyn Waters

In a way, we can compare the New World screwworm (NWS) outbreak to a hurricane. We've known for a while that the likelihood was pretty high that we would have to deal with it. We still aren't certain exactly how it will impact our operations, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to prepare in some ways.

Moving past locked horns: Finding a good mediator

Mediation can help farmers and ranchers resolve disputes efficiently, especially when the mediator has agricultural expertise, technical knowledge and neutrality.
June 12, 2026
Austin C. Vincent

Disagreements occur in our everyday lives, and many usually unexpected. The agriculture industry is not immune to disputes, and many times has the most difficult time finding help resolving disputes. Ranchers and farmers routinely enter into business deals, buy and sell land, lease property, secure loans and participate in government programs through the USDA or other federal and state agencies.

Let’s spice it up with essential oils

June 10, 2026
Abe Scheaffer
