Jim Gerrish gave this year’s keynote address, focusing on the basics of grazing management. Gerrish is a respected grazing land consultant who works with ranchers across the U.S. and Canada.
The one-day conference included other topics important to grazers: multi-species (cattle, sheep, goats) grazing management; strip-grazing; soil health; pasture renovation and restoration; grass-based dairy production; how to cut costs and increase profits; poisonous plants; quality hay production; managing what you have; addressing misconceptions in agriculture; and a producer panel discussed getting started with a grazing system. Attendees also had the opportunity to visit 35 exhibitors at the conference trade show.
