California dairy industry groups honor Tiemersma family After more than four and a half decades as a dairyman, Jelle Tiemersma – known as “Jim” to his friends – has built a lot of respect among his peers. But he didn’t realize quite how much until he and his family were named the 2012 Dairy Family of the Year by the Tulare County Dairy Women and the California Milk Advisory Board. “It was a big surprise,” said Tiemersma, who – along with his wife, Tracy – founded the Tiemersma Dairy in 1971. —From the Visalia Times-Delta Southwest Dairy Farmers recognized with Texas AgriLife Extension Service award The Texas AgriLife Extension Service announced a recent tribute to Southwest Dairy Farmers.

The group, which has partnered with the extension service in Texas and New Mexico to provide educational programming to elementary school children, received the AgriLife Extension Partnership Award at a board of directors meeting this spring.

Southwest Dairy Farmers is an alliance of dairy farmers from Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma who support consumer education and promote dairy product use.

BouMatic donates $5,000 to Boys & Girls Club on behalf of Dugan Dairies
Global dairy equipment manufacturer BouMatic has pledged $5,000 on behalf of Dugan Dairies for the Boys & Girls Club of Casa Grande, Arizona.

“Over the years BouMatic has developed a long and meaningful association with the Dugan family and their T&K Red River Dairy and we are pleased to contribute $5,000 to the Casa Grande Boys and Girls Club on the Dugan family’s behalf,” said Robert Luna, BouMatic president.

“The dedication to improving the lives of young boys and girls in the Casa Grande area by the Dugan family is inspiring.”

Over 400 boys and girls from the Casa Grande, Arizona-area use the club and its facilities each day for after school programs, homework and academic support, access to the club’s computers and for youth athletic programs.

Tom Dugan of T&K Red River Dairy explained, “Our family and dairy have always been committed to supporting this Boys & Girls Club. Supporting kids through adult mentoring, providing positive role models and through healthy activities helps them at school and at home.”
