The 2013 National Red & White Convention, sponsored by the Red & White Dairy Cattle Association (RWDCA), will be Aug. 13-15 in Dunkirk, New York. Theme of the convention, hosted by Darren and Heather Carlstrom, is “Fine Cows and Fine Wines, both of the Red and White Kind.” A list of activities include:
Aug. 13- 9 a.m., RWDCA Board of Directors meeting at the Clarion Hotel; members welcome
- 5 p.m., National Red & White Queen Contest interviews; queen contestants and judges only
- 6:30 p.m., Convention kickoff at C &W Farm, 6757 Hall Road, Sinclairville; barbecue dinner, cheese and wine tasting, raffles
- 8 a.m., Farm and wine bus tours; depart Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, 1089 Central Ave., Dunkirk; $15/person, gift for those who register and pay by July 31
- 8:30 a.m., Saxton Hill Holsteins, 3811 Bard Road, Cassasdaga; milk, coffee and donuts provided
- 10 a.m., Wall Street Dairy, 3353 Wall St., Mayville
- 11:30 a.m., Noble Winery and Gift Shop, 8630 Hardscrabble Road, Westfield; lunch and wine tasting
- 1:15 p.m., Chad Fredd/Robotic Milkers, Prospect Road, Westfield
- 3 p.m., 21 Brix Winery and Gift Shop, 6654 W. Main Road, Portland; wine tasting and tour
- 7 p.m., RWDCA annual meeting, awards banquet, queen contest and live auction; The Red House, 91 Frisbee Road. Banquet speaker will be New York Sen. Kristen Gillibrand; $15/person, gift for reservations received and paid for by July 31
- 10:30 a.m., 44th National Red & White Convention Sale, Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, Dunkirk; pre-sale refreshments, select offering of 80 Red and White and Red Carrier lots, online bidding
