Milk Guardian from Dairy Quality Inc. allows milk quality testing to be done right in the milking parlor – SCC readings can be determined in seconds. The Milk Guardian process is easy and can be done with nothing more than the Milk Guardian kit and an iPhone. How it works: A sample is drawn and loaded into a Milk Guardian slide chamber that automatically mixes the sample with reagents to identify somatic cells.

• The imaging technology of the device then scans the milk.
• An image of the scan is captured by the iPhone camera and analyzed by the mpengo Dairy app.
• The results are displayed on the iPhone seconds later.

What is mpengo Dairy?

mpengo Dairy is the iPhone app that works with Milk Guardian to analyze SCC. It also has features to help store and track results of the herd. Dates and results are stored by cow tag. Information can be sent from the iPhone as reports or to be used with popular herd management software. To make the app even easier to use, cow herd tables from other programs can be imported into mpengo Dairy. PD
