AMS Galaxy USA is proud to announce the publication of M-I-12-10 Teat Preparation Protocol Galaxy M2G Automatic Milking System on August 22, 2022. This document provides federal approval of the Galaxy Merlin2G teat prep for robotic milk.
With the issuance of this document, AMS Galaxy is one step closer to harvesting Grade A Milk in the U.S. The protocol details the method the Galaxy Merlin2G prepares teats for milking. The preparation includes the use of brushes to clean and sanitize the teats and an air nozzle to dry them. Foremilk is sent to a collection chamber then discarded at the end of milking.
Approval of the teat prep protocol is one major step towards the validation an automatic milking installation (AMI). A milking robot must meet the standards of the pasteurized milk ordinance (PMO). Each state reviews the AMI to determine if it meets their interpretation of the PMO then approves the AMI to harvest milk in that state.
The first Merlin2G is currently being installed at Corner View Farm in Kutztown, PA.
More information about the Galaxy Merlin2G and other automations are available at AMS Galaxy USA.
