This holiday season, Challenge Butter is proud to partner with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to support its mission of improving treatments for pediatric cancer. The “Challenge for a Cure” initiative invites everyone to join the fight by sharing their cookie creations on social media, hosting bake sales or making donations to raise much-needed funds for childhood cancer research.

Actress Olivia Sanabia has baked a batch of stained glass cookies to kick off the partnership by posting a video announcing the campaign on social media, encouraging her followers to get involved. Additionally, Hetal Vasavada (found on Instagram at @milkandcardamom), author of Desi Bakes, will share holiday baking traditions and how to host a bake sale to promote the campaign.

For every cookie photo posted between now and Dec. 31, 2024, Challenge Butter will donate $1 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, up to $10,000.

“We are thrilled to support this heartfelt initiative in partnership with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer,” says Priya Kumar, VP of marketing at Challenge. “For decades, families across the country have trusted us for their favorite holiday meals and traditions, and this year, we can’t think of a better way to give back than by donating 10,000 dollars to help fund pediatric cancer research. We encourage everyone to join us in this sweet effort by hosting a bake sale or raising awareness in their own way.”

“We are incredibly grateful for their generous donation,” says Gretchen Witt, executive director of Cookies for Kids' Cancer. “Their support will help us make a meaningful impact in the fight against pediatric cancer. We look forward to working together to spread awareness and raise much-needed funds for research.”

Hosting a bake sale

Individuals and communities can easily sign up to host their bake sale and receive bake sale kits, along with guidance from the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer team to ensure success. The perfect start to hosting a fundraising event starts with registering.

“A fundraising page is created for each registrant, and a follow-up email from us containing details on how to manage your fundraising page follows. We are here to help every step of the way,” Witt says. “Our director of community engagement, Marissa Schwartz, is truly a resource as needed for all of our grassroots participants.”

The starter kits include a baking mitt, a free butter coupon, a bake sale table banner, a donation jar, stickers for your cookie packaging, flyers about pediatric cancer and more.

“Baking with family is a fun way to get in the holiday spirit,” Kumar says. “These baking kits are the perfect addition to your baking activities while also giving back to other families in need.”

Donations

For those who don’t have time to host an event, you can still make a difference by donating directly to fund life-saving research by visiting the cause online.

“When you donate to Cookies for Kids' Cancer, you are helping fund critically needed childhood cancer research to find safer, more effective treatments for children fighting cancer,” Witt says. “Your donations can be directed to a specific cancer or fund. If you donate to their general fund, the board will guide fund granting through a peer-review process.”

Cookies for Kids' Cancer funds early research that has the strongest science behind it and the best chance of getting from a research lab to a child’s bedside in the shortest timeframe possible.

“We are so incredibly grateful that Challenge Butter has joined us in support of our mission, vision and our fund direction process as overseen by our top-tier medical advisory board,” Witt says. “They understand the facts about childhood cancer and are determined this holiday season to make a difference in the lives of children facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. They realize the importance of funding the best, most promising research so that kids can get the lifesaving treatments they need when they need it.”

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a national 501(c)3 non-profit committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved and less-toxic treatments for pediatric cancer – the number one disease killer of children in the U.S.
