East Central/Select Sires Inc.’s Select Reproductive Solutions (SRS) specialist, Phil Dieter, was named Select Sires’ 2011 SRS Specialist of the Year. Dieter received this honor at Select Sires’ SRS Conference, held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, May 16-20. This national award is presented to an SRS specialist that exemplifies the qualities that best accomplish the mission of SRS – to do whatever it takes to increase the production of pregnancies in dairy and beef operations. Highly trained SRS specialists are the foundation of accomplishing that mission.
Dieter was raised on a dairy and beef farm in southwest Wisconsin and always had a passion for showing cattle. He started with Select Sires as a technician in 2001 and landed his current role as a Select Reproductive Solutions (SRS) specialist seven years later. Dieter oversees many programs at East Central/Select Sires including reproductive services, beef programs, Program for Fertility Advancement (PFA) and the newly released activity monitoring system, Select Detect. He helps technicians improve efficiency and effectiveness in producing more pregnant cows. In addition, he is an A.I. trainer, personnel trainer, technician supervisor, Dairy Comp 305 instructor, herd consultant and coordinates research and field trials.
Throughout his time with SRS, Dieter has participated in advanced training and workshops and has often served as an instructor. Along with his responsibilities at East Central/Select Sires, he also serves at a national level on numerous Select Sires committees. PD
