What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Ohio State University, where I also minored in meat science.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I grew up on a sixth-generation family farm in Ohio. During my childhood and up through college I was extremely involved in the industry through 4-H, FFA, Block and Bridle Club, and serving as the vice president of the Clemson Collegiate Cattlemen's Association.

What are your new responsibilities?
My responsibilities include running and managing Rock River Laboratory – Ohio, consulting with current and potential customers, promoting the lab and continuing to provide the unsurpassed customer service that the company is known for.

What previous positions have you held?
Previously, I completed a marketing internship with Certified Angus Beef, held a student research assistant position at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center feedlot, served as a student ambassador for Prima Tech and was a veterinary technician.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
My father, Dr. Francis Fluharty, has made the biggest impact on my career. Growing up, his passion for the industry was so contagious that it rubbed right off onto me. Both of us working in the ruminant nutrition field has been great. It certainly makes for some interesting conversations, and I hope to continue the legacy.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
Being a producer myself and having a father who is a consultant helps me relate to both producers and consultants. My feedlot nutrition background and forage production knowledge, coupled with my knowledge of the company's diagnostics helps me consult with our customers and answer any question that comes my way.

Why did you choose this company?
Everyone at the company is so passionate about what they do. The energy within the company is contagious, and I felt like it was the perfect fit for me. One of my greatest joys in life is ultimately being able to help producers of all sectors of the industry — this company allows me to be one small link in that very important chain.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I would like to take my knowledge of the beef and feedlot industries and expand into those sectors of the industry. I would also like to expand my knowledge of the dairy industry, especially since Rock River Laboratory – Ohio is located in the number one dairy county in the state. And most importantly, I want every person that comes in the door to leave feeling confident in the results that they received, with no uncertainty or confusion. PD
