Roto-Mix VX single-auger mixers The new VX Series single-auger vertical mixers by Roto-Mix includes three models: the VX-315, VX-415 and VX-515, which provide capacities in 300, 400 and 500 cubic feet, respectively.
All three models are under 100 inches in height, which enables nearly all types of loaders, even skid steers, to load feed without clearance concerns. The low center of gravity means the mixer is very stable and can maneuver in tight areas.
Right- or left-side discharge is a standard along with a side bolt-on conveyor option to allow for easy bunk feeding. A flow regulator plate enables the operator to optimize the flow of feed inside the mixer.
The single auger is powered by a low-maintenance, PTO-driven, planetary gearbox. New “wing kickers” located at the bottom of the augers force the last part of the ration out, resulting in better clean-out. For feeders who want more capacity, Roto-Mix offers rubber extenders.
The VX Series will be available this summer; dealers are currently taking orders.

Digital-Dairy refractometers
MISCO’s Digital-Dairy refractometers are designed for use on dairy farms and calf ranches. They provide reliable estimates of the percent solids in waste milk, IgG blood levels, blood plasma protein concentration, colostrum quality and calf hydration.
Solids content and bacteria levels are two problems associated with waste milk feeding. Because Digital-Dairy refractometers read directly in solids content, it only takes a few drops of milk to quickly determine the percent solids and adjust them to desired levels with calf milk replacer.
The refractometers can also be used in combination with a special, urine-specific gravity scale in order to detect mild dehydration in calves.
Protection against inaccurate readings due to temperature differences, a major concern with refractometer measurements, is assured with nonlinear temperature compensation.
Temperature compensation is automatic for fluids read between 10 and 40°C (+50 to 104°F). Digital-Dairy refractometers can be simply calibrated with water and are made in the U.S. PD
