The Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association (MADA) and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program (PDPP) board of directors recently elected officers for the 2014 term during their annual reorganization meeting.
Vernon Horst of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, was re-elected chairman of the MADA board, and Harold Shaulis of Somerset, Pennsylvania, was re-elected to lead the PDPP.
Also re-elected as MADA officers were Joyce Bupp, Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania, vice chairwoman; Jeff Moore, Centreville, Maryland, secretary; and Jerrel Heatwole, Greenwood, Delaware, treasurer.
In addition to Harold Shaulis as chairman, the PDPP board re-elected Jeff Raney, Adamsville, Pennsylvania, first vice chairman; Harold Bailey, Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania, second vice chairman; Christine Cooney, Spartansburg, Pennsylvania, secretary; Joyce Bupp, Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania, assistant secretary; Bertha Ackerson, Marion Center, Pennsylvania, treasurer; Rita Kennedy, Valencia, Pennsylvania, assistant treasurer; and Jim Warburton, New Albany, Pennsylvania, finance and audit committee.
For the past eight years, the two promotion boards have worked closely together to bring dairy checkoff programs to the Mid-Atlantic region.
“I am pleased with the working relationship we have developed on behalf of dairy farmers,” said MADA Chairman Vernon Horst. “By working together, we are using dairy checkoff funds as efficiently and as effectively as possible to promote our products and our industry."
Dairy checkoff programs continue to focus on promotion, education and research of dairy through a variety of programs aimed at increasing the demand for and sale of milk and dairy products.
“We have made great strides in more effectively and successfully investing dairy farmer checkoff dollars to drive sales through partnerships at the state, regional and national levels,” said PDPP Chairman Harold Shaulis. “Each and every member of our board is committed to getting the highest possible return on investment from the checkoff dollars on behalf of the dairy farmers they represent."
