What are your new responsibilities?
I am the new district sales manager in Southern Ontario. I will be responsible for sales and consulting in large herds, helping them to find the most suitable genetic plans to meet their farm’s goals.

What territory will you cover?
My territory will cover Oxford, Elgin, Brant, Wentworth, Kent and Essex counties.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I grew up on the Coopon Flora farm (200 cows) in Elmira, Ontario, and went on to Kemptville College to further my education. After school, I spent seven months in Scotland as a herdsman on a farm with 550 cows and another year in Germany as the assistant manager/herdsman on an 1,100 cow dairy. There I started a herd health program and have implemented that program on our family farm, Coopon Flora which is now called Milky Wave Inc.

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I have a diploma in agriculture from the University of Guelph, Kemptville campus. I have experience working on various dairy operations and performing many duties from milking, feeding to implementing an A.I. program. I have also attended the week-long Alta U Dairy Manager School through Alta Genetics at the Watertown, Wisconsin, facility while working at home on our family farm.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
My dad has made a huge impact on my interests and career. He has always encouraged me to gain experience and knowledge in the industry. While in Germany, Marius Alberts, the farm owner, became a great mentor as well.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
Genetics have been an interest and passion my whole life and I look forward to working with producers.  I want to help improve clients’ reproductive management and help them reach their breeding goals for their operation.

Why did you choose this company?
Working for Alta seemed to fit with my progressive mindset.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I hope to build strong relationships with my clients and provide them with the knowledge that I have gained through the experiences I have had.  PD
