In a recent online poll, Progressive Cattleman asked, “How many days prior to shipping are your calves weaned?”
Thirteen percent said they wean 35 to 45 days before shipping. Another 13 percent said they ship 15 to 35 days after weaning. A quarter (25 percent) of responding readers said they wait only 15 days (or less) after weaning to ship.
The majority (49 percent), however, said they wait 45 days or more after weaning before they ship their calves.
