Corn chopping amazes me. From the way the team works to coordinate the trucks in the field to the packing and covering on the dairy. The coordination, communication and overall efficiency is truly a spectacle to see.
Last summer, as I watched a crew get to work, I focused on the first pass of a new field. How would they position themselves to open the field up? How were they communicating the plan to each other and the trucks waiting nearby? Was the packing crew caught up and ready to receive another load?
It takes communication, trust and the goal of being as efficient as possible to achieve that goal. It’s a balance of meeting the needs of the producer who worked all summer to grow high-quality corn and the dairy that wants to feed high-quality corn.
That balance exists in publishing, too. Our mission here at Progressive Forage is to build trusting relationships so that all can grow while providing our readers with the highest-quality content to help them succeed on the farm. We took a step toward that goal this month, with the unveiling of our new web-based supersite.
On this site, we have united all of our publications under one brand at agproud.com. Content from Progressive Dairy, Progressive Cattle and Progressive Forage will appear together and allow the user to discover more content related to what they are specifically interested in. The site will ask you to create a free account so we can curate those interests for you and give you the ability to update your print subscriptions as well, but we will do our best to make sure the content you seek is always available to you just a click away.
Like the chopping crew, we are doing our best to hear your needs and help you achieve the goal of becoming more efficient producers working toward the common goal of doing the best you can with the resources available to you. We are constantly at work to be sure we are one of those resources and well worth the time you invest in reading.
While our print publications will still be sent out in the same manner, we encourage you to look at our new site, explore new content and listen to a podcast or two.
This project has been a major one, and new things bring their own set of challenges, but we hope that with some teamwork and some trust, you turn to agproud.com as a resource in your endeavors.
Eventually, we hope we can all look at this project with the same amount of satisfaction as a freshly cleared field that has not even a single stalk left standing, take a deep breath and know that the balance of efficiency has been reached.
In whichever form you choose, thanks for reading and as always, let us know how we can be a more efficient resource for you.
