Airoso Dairy Farms will be celebrating its centennial anniversary of dairy farming in California during World Ag Expo. The Tulare County family will be hosting two open houses and a registered dairy cattle sale as part of the celebration. “We’re celebrating 100 years of being in the dairy business and 45 years of breeding registered Holsteins,” fourth-generation dairyman Joey Airoso says. Dairy producers and the general public are invited to an open house at Airoso Dairy on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The dairy is located at 18829 Road 64 in Tulare.

Then on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. the farm will host a registered dairy cattle sale on the show grounds, featuring 85 lots of registered Holstein cattle and 15 lots of registered Jersey cattle.

The first lot to be sold will be a registered Holstein calf donated by the Airoso family. Proceeds from that first sale will be donated to the Ag Warriors program.

Following the sale and dinner, musician Michael Peterson, who will be the master of ceremonies at a gala Ag Warriors event, which will be attended by former President George W. Bush, the evening before, will perform.

Local band Chaparral will perform following Peterson.

“We want anyone who is involved in the dairy industry, milking cows or breeding cattle to come,” Airoso says.

Airoso says he got the idea to plan the event about a year ago to celebrate his family’s dairy heritage and promote its registered cattle business. As a registered breeder, he likes to plan an event similar in size about every five years.

“It’s good advertising to promote our prefix and cattle,” Airoso says. “Plus, we will have consignments from all over the U.S. and Canada. So there will be some of the best Holsteins and Jerseys on the North American continent to be sold.” PD
