Dairy producers will learn how to protect what they’ve worked for and how to provide a pathway for the success of the next generation during a series of three upcoming World Class webinars offered by Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin. Dates for the webinars are Jan. 9, Feb. 6 and March 5. All three of the webinars will be on a Monday, start at noon CST and last for 60 minutes.

Leading the three family farm transfer webinars will be attorney George Twohig, the senior member of the agricultural law firm Twohig, Reitbrock, Schneider & Halbach of Chilton, Wisconsin.

Although farming with family members has its pleasures and rewards, it also has its challenges, particularly during times of stress. Stress on the family is often heightened during times of transition, including transitioning the farm to the next generation. This series of three webinars is designed to provide valuable information that can lessen the stress of family farm transfers.

While the three webinars comprise a series and it would be great for a person to participate in all three, each webinar can stand on its own. Attorney George Twohig will spearhead each of the discussions, and he’s an expert in the field of family farm transfers. For 30-plus years of experience, Twohig has been solving unique planning and legal issues faced by farms and agri-businesses, and he’ll use those experiences to help webinar participants step through family farm transfers.

The first World Class webinar will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 9. Tilted “Getting the Family on the Same Game Plan,” this webinar will present effective approaches to a family farm transfer, including key steps to take and those to avoid. The focus will be on planning the necessary steps while keeping the planning practical and cost efficient.

The Feb. 6 webinar, “Passing Management and Ownership During Life,” will discuss the role of limited liability companies and other legal entities in farm transfers and how to take advantage of important tax planning opportunities while avoiding tax traps.

The March 5 webinar, “Understand Effective Estate Planning,” will provide examples of special techniques used in estate planning for farm families and address how to avoid the costs, delays and public exposure of court probate.

Individuals wishing to participate in a World Class webinar must register, with registration due one week prior to the webinar. For example, registration for the Jan. 9 webinar is Monday, Jan. 2. One paid registration entitles the registrant to gather as people around a computer as comfortable or possible. In other words, one paid registration can mean two, three or more people can be around a computer, hear the presentation and ask questions at no additional cost.

If you are unavailable for the webinar, you can receive a recording of its entirety if you are registered. Registration per webinar is $100 for PDPW members and $125 for non-PDPW members. Or individuals can register for all three webinars at one time and pay $275 if they are a PDPW member or $350 if they are not a member of PDPW.
