The National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDB) honored Glen Schroeder as the 2014 recipient of the Richard E. Lyng Award for his extensive contributions and distinguished service to dairy promotion. Schroeder is a dairy farmer from Caledonia, Minnesota.

On October 2, 2014, Tommy Martin received Gene Meyer – Arthur Nesbitt 4-E Award from the National Dairy Shrine for being a tireless worker in signing up new National Dairy Shrine members. Martin, from Winter Haven, Florida, is the 10th individual to receive the award in the 65-year history of the National Dairy Shrine.

Ashely Mohn of Womelsdorf, Berks County, was crowned the 58th Pennsylvania Dairy Princess on Sept 20, 2014. Mohn, the 20-year-old of Steve and Karen Mohn, is a junior at Delaware Valley College, where she is majoring in dairy science with minors in agriculture business and communications. She was crowned by outgoing state Princess Lu-Anne Antisdel of Rome, Bradford County.

Susan Kerr, WSU Northwest regional livestock and dairy extension specialist, has been selected as a national sustainable agriculture fellow. She is one of four extension educators to participate in the program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.
