Roger Morrison Director of Technical Sales and Research R&D LifeSciences Columbia, Missouri
What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I have a B.S. degree in animal science from the University of Illinois, and a M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. My main field of study for the graduate degrees was ruminant nutrition. I had the unique opportunity to serve as the placement director for the College of Agriculture at the University of Missouri while pursuing my Ph.D. This gave me a chance to be involved with faculty, students and employers of all the academic departments of the college. This included 16 academic majors, 500 students and 100 employers on an annual basis.
Please describe your agricultural background.
I was raised on a diversified farm in southern Illinois. I have served as an agriculture extension agent in Illinois and numerous positions in the feed and animal health industries.
What territory will you cover?
As we have a fairly small team at R&D LifeSciences, I expect I will travel to all parts of the U.S. I will focus on the Midwest U.S.
What are your new responsibilities?
My responsibilities will include sales and customer support in the Midwest and coordinating company research in development of new products and support of existing products. This will include basic studies with universities and more practical field studies under commercial conditions.
What previous positions have you held?
Prior to R&D LifeSciences, I worked for Cargill, ADM Alliance Nutrition, Roche Animal Health, MoorMan Manufacturing Company, University of Missouri and University of Illinois.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I can be of greatest assistance to producers by helping educate nutritionists and feed company personnel to the value of enzymes and other innovative products in animal nutrition. I can also be an independent third party to help review and evaluate options to address the issues that inhibit profitability, whether these are nutritional or management issues.
Why did you choose this company?
I chose R&D LifeSciences because of its commitment to science and innovation in its thinking. They have products that are backed by independent research. The company has great employees. PD
