Officials say the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service in Arkansas is getting $4.26 million in additional funding to help producers.
The agency says $2.69 million will be available through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and more than $1 million will be available through the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative. The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program will offer $250,000 and $315,119 will be available through the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program.State Conservationist Mike Sullivan says the extra environmental quality program funding will allow the agency to give landowners with existing applications money to address needs on cropland, forest land and pasture land. Sullivan says the other programs will allow producers to install conservation practices aimed at improving water quality, water quantity and wildlife habitat. PD
