Minnesota Milk Producers Association hosted a dairy tour for 76 dairy producers and industry representatives in central Minnesota on June 15-16. Tour participants came from all areas of Minnesota along with some from Iowa and North Dakota.

After touring four dairy operations and a calf facility, tour participants walked away with some practical ideas to apply in their business. However the best knowledge was gained from participants networking with one another at the dairies, on the bus, and in the evening.

The tour also included a stop at Camp Ripley in Little Falls, Minnesota. This military facility is also a nature facility.

Ongoing studies are conducted on wildlife and plants to document the quality of wildlife habitat found at Camp Ripley and to investigate relationships between military activities and sensitive wildlife species.

With the tough spring, most participants were ready to get off the farm, network with other dairymen, and relax in the evening at Grand View Lodge.
