Mark Herrman Channel Sales Manager Arm & Hammer Animal Nutrition Madison, Wisconsin
What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I have a bachelor’s degree in agricultural journalism from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Please describe your agricultural background.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Sparta, Wisconsin. I wanted to stay connected to the dairy industry, which is why I pursued an agricultural degree. I have worked with many different types and styles of dairies through my roles with dairy equipment manufacturers and a pharmaceutical company prior to joining Arm & Hammer Animal Nutrition.
What territory will you cover?
My territory consists of six states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
What are your new responsibilities?
I work with Arm & Hammer Animal Nutrition’s distribution partners on business planning, contracts, pricing, training and anything else that they need. This allows our enterprise sales team to focus on providing solutions for farms and nutritionists.
What previous positions have you held?
I have served as a territory and regional manager with BouMatic and as a territory manager with Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica.
Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
Many people have impacted my career. Every company I have worked for or with has put me in touch with excellent people that have influenced me. I have also been very fortunate to have some excellent mentors over my career. However, the biggest impact has come from my father, Bill Herrman. He taught me the value of hard work, attention to detail, listening, fairness and all-around good Christian values. I have used each of those values as my foundation in my personal and professional life.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
The biggest benefit I can provide to producers is to ensure that their feed suppliers can provide them with the best nutritional options for their cattle at a good value.
Why did you choose this company?
Arm & Hammer is a science-based company that backs each of its products with peer-reviewed research. This was very important to me.
What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
My goals are to help grow the Arm & Hammer Animal Nutrition business and expand it into new markets. With the recent acquisition of Vi-COR, we have a great opportunity to enhance the health and profitability of dairy farms as well as other species. PD
