In honor of March Madness, Animart concocted a contest that pitted dairy cattle breeds against beef breeds in a bracket-style competition dubbed Dairy vs. Beef Madness. Visitors to Animart's Facebook page voted to see which breed would win.
Here's Animart's tongue-in-cheek summary of the championship round:
Two impressive teams faced off in Cattle Coliseum, surrounded by the clamorous noise of hooves and cowbells. Many teams had fallen, yet two remained in the Animart Dairy versus Beef Madness: Holsteins and Texas Longhorns.
The match was close in the first half. But after a rallying half time speech in the Texas Longhorn locker room, the matchup ended with a 100-31 Texas Longhorn Victory.
“We came to the Coliseum ready to win,” said Louie Longhorn, longtime coach of the Texas Longhorns. “The fans knew it and their support pushed us to victory.”
The Holstein's powerful first half is not to be discounted. Harry Holstein, new coach of the Holsteins, had this to say about his team, “We played hard, I give the team credit for their dedication and hard work in the parlor during the regular season.”
Animart veterinary staff was called to the court for injuries stemming from a freak slip of the hoof on the court.
“We believe silage was thrown on the court by an upset fan,” reported Dr. Mark Udderworth. “Coliseum staff is looking into the incident and will be revamping its concessions policy.”
After spending time in the float tank, the player is expected to make a full recovery.
Both teams are confident in the future of their programs. Louie Longhorn isn’t shy about his success, “I’ve produced USDA Prime Players in the past and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.” PD
