Dairy producers from Idaho are invited to attend the 2007 United Dairymen of Idaho Annual Meeting to be held at the Boise Centre on the Grove October 24-26.

This year’s UDI annual meeting theme is “Standing United for Idaho’s Dairy Industry.” The meeting begins on Wednesday, October 24 at 6 p.m. with the REAL Dairy Expo. More than 100 vendors will be on hand to showcase their products and services. Producers can enjoy a glass of milk with cheese and hors d’oeuvres and meet with fellow dairymen.

On Thursday, October 25, producers will hear from various speakers. Keynote speaker, Chef Jon Ashton, is a spokesperson for the National Dairy Council who advocates healthy eating habits, especially for children. A native of England, Jon shares his thoughts on how we can help children fight the obesity epidemic and how dairy plays a key role in that battle.

Douglas DiRenzo Ph.D, senior vice president for Dairy Management Inc., will discuss innovation and nutrition research currently underway through producers’ investment in the checkoff program.

The United Dairymen of Idaho business meeting will also be held on October 25. Idaho Dairymen’s Association President Jack Davis and Industry Relations Chairman Dr. Bill Stouder will present by-law changes and policy resolutions.

On October 26, Mary Ledman, market analyst, will provide insight into the dairy market and factors currently affecting the market. Joan Horbiak, MPH, RD, will conduct a workshop to equip producers will skills to more effectively communicate at meetings or hearings.

The convention wraps up with the annual meeting banquet where the Idaho Dairy Hall of Fame Award will be presented.

Ladies attending the convention can join Celebrity Chef Jon Ashton for an entertaining cooking adventure and enjoy a “Day of Memories” making personalized scrapbook pages.
