DSM offers recyclable packaging option for farmers DSM Animal Nutrition & Health now offers the option of packaging premix in low-density linear polyethylene (LDPE) bags. These durable, white-tinted bags are 100 percent recyclable and provide protection from air and sunlight that can be detrimental to vitamin potency.
The thickness of the polyethylene helps reduce bag damage during transport to and within customers’ warehouses and feed mills. Bag exteriors are textured to improve handling and ensure that bags on pallets hold together.
Heat sealing is used to eliminate the risk of thread or tape contaminating micro-bins or finished feed. The bags also clean out easily for reduced product shrink.
The effort to provide environmentally friendly packaging was in response to a customer’s request for premix packaging that could become part of their internal recycling initiative, the company says.
As an added benefit, the switch to polyethylene bags has increased the income this customer’s recycling initiative generates and further reduces the waste materials going into landfills.

Krone North America offers new extended warranty policy
Krone North America is making available its new extended warranty program, Krone Warranty Plus (KWP), in order to offer the most complete protection available on new BiG X forage harvesters and heads, BiG M self-propelled mower conditioners, BiG Pack large square balers and Comprima round balers.
All services that would be covered under the standard 12-month warranty period will be covered during the extended warranty period, says Technical Support Manager Ken Stratton.
KWP offers an extended warranty period of either additional 12 or 24 months coverage past the standard 12-month warranty. There are no varying coverage levels; all major failures should be covered under the policy in excess of the $500 deductible for each claim or occurrence.
The company’s warranty administrator will make final decisions about a claim, as it will not have to be approved by a third-party company. PD
