What are your new responsibilities?
My responsibilities include helping producers improve efficiency and profitability by assisting them select and position forages correctly into their diets. My role also covers trouble-shooting herd performance issues that may be forage-related.
You could say that I am a bridge between the agronomist and the nutritionist, making sure that the choices and actions out in the field align with what the producer and the nutritionist are trying to accomplish with the herd.
What territory will you cover?
Northern Wisconsin from Eau Claire to Appleton and all points north.
Please describe your agricultural background.
I spent 15 years helping dairy producers across the U.S. as an independent nutritionist and large herd consultant. For the past 12 years, I have been managing large dairy herds throughout the Midwest.
What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I graduated from Cornell University in animal science, with minors in ag economics and agronomy.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
My experience running dairies and my training on nutrition gives me the insight to work with producers on a common, practical level. By helping dairies select the best hybrids for forage production, I can help dairy producers confidently feed high forage diets and achieve very high production and maintain excellent animal health.
