Kristin Sprengeler, Dairy Specialist Plato, Minnesota Agri-Nutrition Consulting

What are your responsibilities with your new role?
My responsibilities revolve around identifying and qualifying leads in my territory. From there I work as part of the ANC team assisting with the development of strategies aimed at reaching our customers' goals and making them profitable.

Although we are a nutrition company, our focus is to “Go Beyond Nutrition” and look at the whole picture for each dairy we work with.

What territory will you cover?
I am working with herds and consultants in various regions of Wisconsin.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I am from a small registered Brown Swiss farm in Plato, Minnesota where I grew up working on the farm and showing cattle with my two siblings and parents. My family dairy, Arthurst Farm, is where my passion for the dairy industry began and that lead me to pursue a degree in dairy science and life sciences communications at University of Wisconsin – Madison.

While attending UW – Madison, I became extremely active in the professional agricultural sorority of Sigma Alpha, the Badger Dairy Club, and the Association of Women in Agriculture.

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I have a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and life sciences communications from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

What previous positions have you held?
I have had several agricultural sales internships including Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. and Form-A-Feed Inc.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
I’ve been very fortunate to have a supportive family, some great mentors throughout internships, and some great contacts made through my past dairy involvements.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I am most helpful to producers by learning all that I can about their operations. This involves asking a lot questions and listening to the meaning behind the words. Many times my outside perspective brings attention to things that are over-looked.

At this company we look for the shortest staves in the barrel, evaluating all aspects of the dairy and determining what is limiting the farm's ability to reach the producer’s goals. Once the producer and I uncover the shortest staves, we bring in the appropriate team players and consultants to utilize their knowledge and experience to fix the limiting factor.

Why did you choose this company?
I chose ANC because of the great people, and the unique position in the market where I can promote programs and services while being supported by a team that formulates rations, and the opportunity to further my exposure to dairy nutrition.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
One of my goals is to continuously apply the knowledge that I gained throughout my schooling at UW – Madison and general understanding of the industry to the farms with which I work.

I aim to continue building strong relationships with producers and other dairy industry enthusiasts, while also gaining a better understanding of the role nutrition plays in meeting an animal’s production demands through remarkable technology advancements.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In the next five years, I see myself surrounded by those who are just as passionate about the dairy industry as I am. I will continue to own and work with dairy animals. In the next five years, it is safe to say that I will still be part of a remarkable team of people that I greatly respect. PD
