What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I received a Bachelor of Science in animal sciences from the University of Illinois in 2009. I then completed a Master of Science with a focus on mammary development at the Ohio State University in 2011. In December 2015, I earned a Ph.D. from Purdue University, where my research explored saturated and unsaturated fatty acid metabolism in bovine kidney cells.
Please describe your agricultural background.
I was raised on a small, registered Guernsey dairy in northern Illinois. Growing up, I was very active in the registered Guernsey, Holstein and Red & White breed associations. My family currently manages a corn and soybean operation.
What are your new responsibilities?
Based out of the Brookville, Ohio office, I will provide technical support for our customers and field personnel across the country. I will also work with other team members on product development and ration formulation, including Provimi’s ration balancing software, AAMPS.
Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
I was fortunate, through 4-H dairy judging and other programs, to have the influence of Illinois Extension dairy specialists Dave Fisher and Dr. Mike Hutjens. Their work with Illinois dairy youth programs cemented my decision to study at the University of Illinois and later pursue my graduate degrees. My M.S. advisor, Dr. Kristy Daniels, and my Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Shawn Donkin, helped to hone my research and teaching skills, and provided many opportunities for me to share my research on various platforms.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
Applying my nutrition research experience, I will be able to help our customers in understanding and utilizing our nutrition solutions.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I hope to serve as a resource for both our customers and field personnel to help dairy producers improve their herds’ nutrient utilization, enhance efficiency of milk production and promote animal health and well-being. PD
