Lincoln Hill FarmEagle Bridge, New York Adam Austin of Lincoln Hill Farm in Eagle Bridge, New York, was featured in a Nov. 30 Washington Post article for his purchase of Curr-Vale Delicacy P-Red Delicacy. He made the purchase based on the heifer’s GTPI.
The article describes Austin’s efforts to breed Delicacy and perform an embryo transfer. The resulting heifer was Lincoln Hill MS Dreamer P-Red Dreamer, which was scored the highest GTPI Red & White in the world.

Will Comley
Mexico, New York
The Saratogian interviewed New York dairy farmer Will Comley about his venture into on-farm processing with Comley’s Country Creamery. The plant and farm store will add at least three new jobs to the area and is located close to a Christmas tree farm that also sells blueberries and pumpkins.

Bernie Matczak
Oconoto Falls, Wisconsin
Green Bay, Wisconsin’s Fox11 News recently featured the end of an era for Bernie and Pat “Trishie” Matczak. Bernie retired from dairy farming after almost 60 years in the business. He wore a suit coat and tie over his overalls to “pay [the cows] a little respect back.”

Dori Lichty
Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Dairy farmer Dori Lichty decided to respond to a Facebook announcement asking for a Wisconsin dairy producer to appear in a Green Bay Packers advertisement.
The Beaver Dam Daily Citizen highlighted her experience filming the ad and then finding out it ran on television.
Lichty’s name was misspelled in the ad, but the error didn’t bother her. She’s still a lifelong fan of the football team.

Arnie Johnsrud
Algoma, Wisconsin
Retired dairy farmer and retired high school ag teacher Arnie Johnsrud recently spoke with the Green Bay Press Gazette about the trials and tribulations of dairy farming in Wisconsin.
Johnsrud milked cows from 1988 to 2000. Now that he’s retired from his position at Kewaunee High School, he works as an assistant teacher for a diesel lab class at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

Windthorst, Texas
Archer County News recognized Adam Bernard Berend, who was posthumously given Texas Farm Bureau’s Pioneer Award. Berend owned and operated a dairy farm in Windthorst for nearly 40 years and was actively involved in the Archer County Farm Bureau for almost 30 years. PD
