Mary BieganskiTechnicianAll West/Select SiresRichland, Washington
What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I recently graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in animal science, with focuses on animal production and dairy management.
Please describe your agricultural background.
I began working with horses when I was 7 and a large variety of livestock when I was 11. Most of my livestock experience prior to college was at a ranch camp in Southern California where I learned animal health, husbandry, as well as anatomy. Once in college, I was involved in Block and Bridle for several years and worked as a feeder at the university's feed mill and dairy from fall of 2014 through the beginning of August.
What territory will you cover?
I am not sure what region I will cover once I complete my training, but I will most likely be doing relief work in central or western Washington.
What are your new responsibilities?
I am currently in training and am working with other technicians on heat detection and breeding practices.
Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
Dr. Amin Ahmadzadeh taught the dairy science classes at U of I. His classes are what helped me develop a passion for dairy science. He encouraged me throughout my college career and gave me the opportunity to be on the U of I Dairy Challenge team that competed in New York earlier this year.
Why did you choose this company?
I had heard great things about the atmosphere at Select Sires, and after having the opportunity to interview with All West and meet some of the people with the company, I knew it was where I wanted to work.
What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I would like to become as proficient in heat detection and breeding as possible. I am also looking forward to learning more about the other services the company offers. PD
