What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a minor in applied economics.
Please describe your agricultural background.
I was raised in Ralls, Texas, where my dad managed the local cooperative. I spent a lot of time in and around agriculture while growing up, including 4-H, FFA and helping my dad at the co-op. That is where I really developed a passion for agriculture and helping farmers succeed in their operations.
What territory will you cover?
My territory will include all regions between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains.
What are your new responsibilities?
I will focus on sales of the Alta Seeds brand of premium sorghum products and private label seed. My responsibilities include technical and agronomic support, product training, test plot supervision and business development.
What previous positions have you held?
Prior to joining Advanta, I held positions in sales and grain merchandising with Archer Daniels Midland and Cargill Inc. I was also a member of the Airborne Rangers of the U.S. Army.
Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
I would have to say that Sgt. 1st Class Charles Pressburg has had the biggest impact on my career. The lessons learned under his leadership in 1st Ranger Battalion have really helped to guide me through life and my career. He was always the first to start work and last to finish. I try to follow his example and that has really benefited me in my career following the military.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I plan to provide timely service and support to all my customers. I will be able to draw on the vast resources of Advanta to help them be successful in their farming operation.
Why did you choose this company?
I chose Advanta because of their unique position in the sorghum industry. No company has devoted as many resources to the development of elite, innovative sorghum as Advanta. Our top priority is helping producers succeed on their farm. We do this by bringing the latest advancements in sorghum technology to the industry. With water becoming more and more valuable, I believe that sorghum will continue to play a larger role in the agricultural industry, and Advanta is in a unique position to meet those needs.
What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
My goal is to provide our customers with superior sales and technical support while significantly increasing Advanta’s share of the sorghum market. PD
