Producers are invited to attend an open house/field day from 3-8 p.m. June 6 at Middleroad Acres farm. Middleroad Acres, owned by Bill and Merri Post in Chandler, Minnesota, has a new 120-cow, tunnel-ventilated, sand-bedded freestall barn featuring two Lely A4 robots.
The couple opened their barn in December 2002 and cows are averaging more than 85 pounds per day. They are also in the process of remodeling their tie-stall barn into a calf barn featuring automatic calf feeders. There will be a Q&A program starting at 4 p.m. to discuss the couple’s decision to build a barn with robots and how they are managing the system.
