ANIMART Inc. is hosting its first continuing education (CE) course for certified veterinary technicians. The first course will highlight calf care and be offered from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 6.

The company received certification earlier this year to hold CE classes that are both American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) and Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) approved.

The program instructor is Professional Services Veterinarian Dr. Vicky Lauer, a member since September 2013 to analyze and improve calf health as well as work with producers to improve herd health.“I am excited to help local CVTs gain basic information about choosing the best quality colostrum replacer and commercial calf electrolytes as well as provide general information about basic causes and treatment options for calf diarrhea and pneumonia,” Lauer said. “I will also provide training on stomach-tubing calves and placing indwelling intravenous catheters for fluid administration.”

Lauer graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Missouri Baptist University and received her DVM from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

“We are excited to start providing CE credits to CVTs,” said company President Dan Ellsworth. “Partnering with CVTs and veterinary clinics will help us collaborate with other animal health professionals to bring producers solutions with innovative products and procedures.”
