ANIMART, Inc. will host beef and dairy cattle fitting and showmanship demonstrations for all youth at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 23, for beef showmen and Tuesday, May 24, for dairy showmen. All youth are invited to these complimentary, hands-on workshops intended to help teach youth about the art and techniques of proper animal care, including grooming and showing. This will help to achieve high placings with their 4-H and FFA livestock at summer shows.
The dairy demonstration will feature a hands-on, small group component for youth to get up-close with live cattle, use a clipper and learn the techniques of grooming animals in preparation for the show ring. Wisconsin Holstein Association (WHA) Junior Activities Committee and industry professionals will assist in leading the event.
ANIMART’s beef experts, Wayne Keil and Casey Jentz, will lead the beef demonstration featuring tips on daily hair care, clipping and grooming. These important skills are necessary to prepare a beef animal for the show ring. Proper showmanship techniques will also be demonstrated.
The ANIMART cattle fitting demonstrations are authorized events for youth to earn points toward the educational component for eligibility to show or sell their animals at county fairs.
In addition, ANIMART will feature specials on show equipment and a full line of grooming supplies. Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be served for all attendees and prizes will be given away.
The workshops will be held at the Dodge County Fairgrounds, located on Hwy 33, five miles east of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
