Three new faces were welcomed to the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium Board of Directors at the WLIC Annual Meeting held March 1 at Wisconsin Farm Bureau. Brian Bolan from Wisconsin State Fair, Dan Sutherland from Johnsonville Sausage, and Tom DeMuth from AgSource were all welcomed to the Board of Directors. Dr. Thomas McKenna of Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Richard Keller of Wisconsin Farmers Union were re-elected for their second term.


The WLIC membership also honored outgoing Board members and long-time supporters Gary Sutherland from Milwaukee Stockyards, Kevin Jorgensen from East Central/Select Sires, and Terry Quam from Wisconsin Cattleman’s Association.

The Board of Directors now includes David Cooper, Family Dairies USA – chairperson; Richard Keller, Wisconsin Farmers Union – vice chairperson; Mike Salter, Wisconsin Pork Producers Association – secretary; Elsa Arnold, M&I Bank – treasurer; Chuck Adami, Equity Livestock; Brian Bolan, Wisconsin State Fair; Tom DeMuth, AgSource; Dr. Thomas McKenna, Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory; Calvin Larson, Wisconsin Horse Council; Dr. Ole Meland, Accelerated Genetics; Dan Sutherland, Johnsonville Sausage; and Kim Brown-Pokorny, Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association.

Speaking on behalf of OnTrace were Brian Sterling and Nick Albu who discussed Canada’s traceability system and comparisons to Wisconsin’s premises identification system. Ben Brancel, Wisconsin’s Secretary of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, and Susan Buroker, executive assistant, talked about the financial future of Wisconsin agriculture. Brancel was also honored as a Friend of WLIC. Finally, Dr. Brenda Boetel from University of Wisconsin – River Falls gave an overview of agricultural export markets. PD
