DAIReXNET and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents is hosting a webinar titled “Impact on Air Quality and Climate Change – Where the Dairy Industry Stands.” The webinar is free to the public and is geared toward bringing pertinent information to extension educators, allied industry professionals, veterinarians and dairy producers across the U.S.

The air quality webinar will be held April 4 at 1 p.m. EDT. Dr. Frank Mitloehner will discuss the most recent scientific findings as they relate to the impacts of the dairy industry on environmental quality. He will summarize recent national and regional efforts to quantify and mitigate emissions, but also the latest developments in the area of dairies and air quality regulation and litigation. John Fiscalini, a California dairy producer, will discuss the more practical aspects of these issues.

The most recent webinar, “How Low Can We Go: Nitrogen In Dairy Rations,” has been available since March 7. This webinar covered how low we can formulate dairy rations for nitrogen, and what this means for the cost of the ration and environmental impact. We also heard from Mike McMahon, a dairy producer, on the practical side of nitrogen management. PD
