A one credit, five week, dairy class will focus on ration balancing and building using the Spartan III dairy model led by Mike Hutjens. Principles in the class can apply to other rumen model computer programs.
Mike Hutjens will be coordinating a class focused on forage production and utilization for one credit for five weeks featuring legume, grass, small grain, corn silage and pasture systems, plus inoculants, storage systems and forage test interpretation.
Dr. Dick Wallace will be offering his popular advanced dairy reproduction class, a 10-week class for two credits. All phases of reproductive management, diseases and breeding strategies will be covered.
Classes can be enrolled for college credit, continuing education units for veterinarians or dairy professionals, or non-credit for dairy farmers or others (registration fees vary for each). All classes begin Sept. 11 and are live classes on the internet that are held on Mondays. Enrollment and details for all three classes can be found at the University of Illinois website.
