“These students are selected based on the leadership they have shown in their schools and communities and for their academic excellence,” says Marx.

“FFA played a major role in helping them set and achieve their goals. Now, AGCO is proud to help support them in their continuing efforts to excel.”

For the 2011-2012 FFA scholarship year, AGCO and more than 50 of the company’s dealers also are providing 115 $1,000 scholarships to deserving FFA members in each dealer’s local community. This is a new endeavor that involves financial contributions from the local dealer and AGCO.

Marx notes that many AGCO employees credit FFA with helping them to develop their skills and lifelong interest in agriculture.

“The FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program connects AGCO and the next generation of leaders in American agriculture,” says Marx. “Travis Chase and the others who receive this honor will soon take their place among those leaders and in our communities as teachers, engineers, agronomists and farmers.”

Chase‘s parents are Mike and Donna Chase of New Plymouth. Travis is now a student at the University of Idaho with plans to major in agronomy and crop science.

AGCO- and AGCO Finance-sponsored scholarships were distributed to 18 students from Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

Planned majors include agricultural education, engineering, agronomy and crop science, biochemistry, business management, communications and economics.

“Agriculture constantly faces new challenges and new opportunities. Travis Chase and his fellow scholarship recipients will help meet these challenges and explore these opportunities, thanks in part to the role FFA played,” says Marx.  FG
