What are your new responsibilities?
In this role with Reinke, I will be working with Reinke dealers in the Southwest territory, helping to develop and maintain a dealer network that promotes overhead irrigation in the growing areas. This will include assisting them with sales calls, training new dealers and sales reps, and working with them in the growing Southwest market.
What territory will you cover?
I will cover the southwestern states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Oregon.
Please describe your agricultural/educational background.
I attended Bakersfield Junior College and California State University – Bakersfield majoring in marketing while working full time at FMC Corp. When FMC sold the chemical division, I went to work for Asgrow Seed Company for the next 14 years. When they sold out, I got into the irrigation business with Rain for Rent and spent the last three years with Agri-Valley Irrigation. I have been selling pivots and lateral systems for approximately 10 years. I have held sales positions at all three companies. All were direct sales to grower type customers.
What excites you most about working in your new role?
I believe that throughout the years that I have sold pivots I have learned what it takes to become a successful pivot dealer. Now I am able to help others become successful as well. My years in agriculture also give me the background in farming needed to communicate effectively with the grower and help them with their needs in efficiently irrigating their crops.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
I understand the needs of growers and what Reinke has to offer in order to fulfill those needs, which gives us the edge.
Why did you choose this company?
While at Rain For Rent (a Reinke dealer) I became very interested in center pivot irrigation and Reinke Manufacturing as a company. It was a special market in California that not very many people focused on and I saw the opportunity to develop this unique market and to become a specialist in overhead irrigation.
What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
I would like to maintain and increase market share in the established areas of the territory and continue to grow market share in the developing markets of California. FG
