Ron was born in Twin Falls on Aug. 23, 1949, to Virginia Hafer and Ewald Thaemert, where he was raised in a loving Lutheran home. He spent his childhood in the Twin Falls and Filer area learning to love and respect the land. Ron attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Twin Falls until the eighth grade. He graduated from Filer High School in 1967 and then attended the University of Idaho. He came home to work the family farm and enlisted in the Air National Guard, where he served proudly for six years. He met and married Rosa Donnette in 1974 and became a father to Jennifer and Rebecca. Ron and Donnette purchased their first farm in Wendell and, in June of 1975, welcomed Randy Scott to their family.
Ron loved agriculture and farming as well as raising Holsteins and horses. Many days you could find him with his pliers and orange twine fixing things and imagining ideas for the future. In 1982, the family sold the farm and moved to Jerome, where Ron worked at Producers Livestock. In 1989, Ron returned to the University of Idaho to obtain his degree in agricultural education. He began his new career teaching at Buhl High School in the fall of 1991, where for six years he earned the title of “Boss” from his students. Ron transitioned to Shoshone High School, where he taught for two years. It was in Lincoln County where he began his final career as a county extension agent. He spent his last four years as a Blaine County extension agent, where he was a beloved member of the community.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Virginia Thaemert. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Donnette; his children, Jennifer (Fred) Buttram of Meridian, Rebecca (Chance) Krasselt of Viola and Randy (Nanci) Thaemert of Salem, Ore. Ron leaves behind his cherished grandchildren to ride their stick horses that Pappa handmade for each of them. Ron is also survived by his sister, Connie (Rich) Thompson of Gooding; and his brother, Kurt (Teri) Thaemert of Boise. He leaves behind nephews and nieces, family members and numerous people whom he called friends.
Ron’s family wants to express their extreme gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the tidal wave of prayers and support. The unexpectedness of Ron’s passing will be hard for many as he was such a force in life.
