It’s no different for this year’s Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show to be held Sept. 15-17. Here are a few of the new features that might interest dairy producers:
- The Dairy Innovation Centre will continue to showcase the latest dairy technology up close and in action. DeLaval will feature integrated robotic solutions, including robotic milking, automated feeding, cow health monitoring and a body condition scoring camera. Lely will demonstrate its latest automatic milking system and its automatic feeding system, which will be mixing and distributing feed throughout the entire show.
- The Grober Young Animal Development Centre will feature both group- and individually housed automated calf feeding. Stop in to learn about the latest calf research conducted on-site. For those interested in dairy goats, there will be automated kid feeding to watch.
- Live goat-milking demonstrations will be held by the Ontario Dairy Goat Co-op in the EastGen Dairy Producer Pavilion. This emerging dairy industry provides a good opportunity for young farmers wanting to become dairy producers. Come and learn more about the industry, see live goat milking at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and have your questions answered.
- German-based Vogelsang, in partnership with Farm & Food Care, OMAFRA and Husky Farm Equipment, will bring its 50-foot “dribble bar” to Canada. See how the dribble bar, which can be attached to the back of many manure spreaders, provides an environmentally responsible solution to uniform manure application while maintaining efficiency and minimizing crop burn and odour. This will be shown daily at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the dribble bar exhibit on the North Mall. PD
