The new facility is designed to address the research, education and training needs and priorities of the dairy sector for the next several decades. DFO is spearheading the effort to create an industry partnership to build the new facility.
“Innovation and research are essential to the continued success of the dairy industry,” said Wes Lane, special advisor to the 2050 Dairy Industry Innovation Partnership. “This partnership recognizes the commitment to continuous improvement on behalf of our industry partners.”
The ARIO has committed $20 million to the project. DFO has made an initial commitment of $1 million, as a first step, and is now reaching out to industry stakeholders to demonstrate their commitment to the industry by becoming a partner in this project. The goal is to raise an additional $4 million.
The industry fundraising effort is being conducted in conjunction with the University of Guelph. Charitable tax receipts will be available for contributions made to the project.
