“As a company with roots throughout the Northwest, it has been particularly challenging to see our friends and family throughout the beef industry experience this devastation,” says Wade Small, president of the livestock division at Agri Beef Co.
“Just as they rely on the land and the animals they raise, we rely on their partnership and proudly stand beside them in good times and bad. We hope this donation will help toward restoring what was lost and thank the cattlemen’s associations in spearheading these efforts.”
Donations from Agri Beef and Performix will be directed through the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, Owyhee (Idaho) Cattlemen’s Association and Washington Cattlemen’s Association respectively. Agri Beef encourages those interested in donating directly to do so via the following channels:
- Idaho: The Owyhee Cattleman’s Association has set up a fund and is also coordinating donations of other items and services for those impacted by the Soda Fire in Owyhee County.
- Oregon: Similar to Owyhee, the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association is accepting online donations and coordinating other donations, including hay and temporary cattle housing.
- Washington: The Washington Cattleman’s Association is also accepting donations, which can be directed to Jack Field through email.
“Ranching is truly a family business, and these tragic events affect all of us,” says Jim Keppen, president of Performix. “We want to help those impacted by these destructive fires and also want to thank all of the firefighters, paramedics and volunteers who put their lives at risk to keep us safe.”
Additionally, Agri Beef is supporting a community appreciation dinner for the brave firefighters involved with the Soda Fire in Owyhee County by donating beef products to the citizen-organized event in October. Approximately 200 firefighters and their families are expected to attend.
