In a recent online poll, Progressive Cattleman asked, “How far do you truck your cattle for summer grazing?”
About 3.8 percent said they truck their cattle 100 to 200 miles. Another 3.8 percent said they truck their cattle 200 to 300 miles. Only 1.6 percent said they truck their cattle 300 miles or more.
The vast majority of readers said they don’t go very far; 90.9 percent said they truck their cattle between zero and 100 miles for summer grazing.
