Dr. Ken Eng has a long and storied career as a consulting feed yard nutritionist, rancher and poet. In an effort to honor his late wife Caroline, he established the Dr. Kenneth and Caroline McDonald Eng Foundation. Caroline loved life, cattle and cattle people, and was passionate about helping future scholars while enhancing the beef cattle community.

For consideration of the grant, proposed projects must address at least one of the following areas:

  • The establishment or the improvement of the applicant’s beef cattle operation in some way, such as genetics, environment, technology or processing efficiency
  • University studies related to modern beef production
  • Research designed to better understand or improve the beef industry
  • Other interests that will specifically benefit those who raise today’s beef

All ANCW members are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to applicants 45 years and younger, but all applications will be considered. While applicants do not have to own cattle to be eligible for this grant, a vested interest in the beef cattle community should be clearly articulated. The winning application will be announced at the Annual Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio in February 2015.

Barbara Jackson, ANCW past president said, “ANCW is thrilled that the Eng foundation has provided ANCW members with this tremendous opportunity! The structure of this grant allows for our members to get creative and bring innovative ideas forth. We’re excited to see what our members will propose in their applications and how this generous gift will be used to help women working in the beef industry!”

Completed applications must be received by midnight, Oct. 15, 2014. The grant application is available at the American National CattleWomen website.  end mark
