The judges had this to say: “Overall the entries in this category were all good but different in scope. First and second have good depth in editorial, clean graphics and good advertiser support. These [qualities] make for a great publication and the top two easy winners.”
LPC also presented Progressive Dairyman with a first place award in the “Non-Association Technical Story” category. The winning story was the article, “Digital infrared thermography: An early warning system?” by Idaho freelance writer Dave Wilkins which was featured in the September 21, 2012 issue of Progressive Dairyman.
Progressive Dairyman was also the winner of “Non-Association Publication Website” for its online presence at www.progressivedairy.com.
“We’re honored to receive these awards and appreciate the opportunity to be involved in the Livestock Publications Council,” Progressive Dairyman Editor Walt Cooley says. “We hope to continue to go beyond what readers and advertisers can expect from a dairy magazine.”
Progressive Cattleman took home several first-place honors as well. Progressive Publishing’s graphic designer Kevin Brown was the winner of the “Single Photo or Graphic Illustrating an Article” for his presentation of modified live vaccines in the May 2012 issue. Paul Marchant earned first place honors in the “Commentary or Essay” category for his regular column, “Irons in the Fire.”
“As a publication new to the beef industry, we are honored to be recognized among the best in the business,” Progressive Cattleman Editor David Cooper says. “We have a great team and look forward to delivering valuable content to our readers in the future.”
