What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I have a bachelor’s of animal science and a master’s in ruminant nutrition from Texas A&M University.
Please describe your agricultural background.
Growing up in Texas, I was involved in 4-H and FFA. Between raising project animals and riding horses, it wasn’t long before I discovered my passion for agriculture.
By the time I was ready to attend college, I focused all my course work and research towards animal science, with an emphasis in animal nutrition.
What territory will you cover?
Across the U.S.
What are your new responsibilities?
I will assist customers and the company's sales force by providing technical support. I’ll take what I’ve learned in the classroom and through research, and apply that knowledge to help answer questions and provide advice to cattle producers.
What previous positions have you held?
I was a part of graduate student research and teaching.
What excites you most about working in your new role?
I enjoy being able to help producers with questions or issues they might encounter, along with helping to educate the general public about the cattle industry. Advocating for agriculture and shining a positive light on the industry is very satisfying to me.
It is really exciting to be able to converse with producers and industry leaders, knowing that they are educating me just as much – if not more – as I am them.
How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
This job affords me the opportunity to visit on-farm with producers. This provides me with the ability to see first hand how operations are taking place and gives me the benefit of speaking face-to-face with producers to address their questions and concerns.
When making farm calls isn’t a possibility, I can assist producers by making information readily available through informational handouts and presentations for producer meetings.
Continuing my personal education and staying up-to-date with new research and emerging information regarding our industry is also one of the best ways I can help.
Why did you choose this company?
A portion of my master’s research was done utilizing several of Anipro/Xtraformance Feeds products, so I became familiar with the company through my research trials.
My relationship with the company blossomed into an internship this past January, when I had the privilege to travel all over the U.S. with the company’s CEO and president, Mr. Wes Klett.
It was important to me to work for a company that allowed me to get my feet wet, expanded my knowledge of this business and pushed me to always be better for our customers.
What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
First, I would like to assist in the continual growth and success of Anipro/Xtraformance Feeds as one of the top cattle supplement companies in the industry.
A personal goal I would enjoy accomplishing would be advocating for the cattle business by educating the general public about agriculture and the services we provide to society.
Most importantly, working for this company provides me access to a network of producers and industry leaders from which I hope to gain invaluable experience, which will further my goal of becoming a better nutritionist – for myself, and more importantly, for this industry.
