The Limousin Genomic Profiler is operated on the Geneseek Genomic Profiler and yields molecular breeding values (MBVs) that will be used in NALF's National Cattle Evaluation starting this fall.
Beginning Aug. 1, breeders using the Profiler will receive a simple report of scores (on a 1-10 scale) for various traits and the Molecular Breeding Values will be incorporated in the animal's EPDs beginning this fall.
"NALF and Igenity have worked together diligently over the last few years in the development of a Limousin-specific panel," says Dr. Stewart Bauck of GeneSeek. "These years of research have yielded a product that is accurate and affordable while enhancing selection tools for breeders."
GeneSeek will also be involved in testing for myostatin (F94L) and various genetic defects for NALF.
NALF members will have rights to exclusive pricing through the Foundation, which will handle the orders and samples. For more information, contact the NALF office at (303) 220-1693.
